Antique & Vintage Hardware

Reclaimed or salvaged antique & vintage hardware including: barn, church & oversized door hardware, cabinet hardware, doorbells & knockers, hooks & brackets, mailboxes, mail slots and window hardware from a variety of historical periods.

Did You Know?

Before the birth of computers in the 1960’s (when transistors and printed circuits displaced the vacuum tube), the singular definition of  “hardware” pertained to “metalware”, such as tools, locks, hinges and cutlery. In addition, we also stock oversize and undersize door hardware, cabinet hardware, doorbells & knockers, hooks & brackets, mailboxes & mail slots, window hardware and more!

Legacy’s classic collection of reclaimed hardware artifacts spans the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and testifies to man’s finest skills, most occasional folly and slow but sure mechanical ingenuity. It’s little wonder the noun hardware was adopted by Silicon Valley.

Legacy’s salvaged and restored antique hardware inventory displays the individual handiwork of early American, Canadian, Eastern European, Latvian, Dutch, French, English, Scottish and Indonesian, Asian, and Spanish blacksmiths and toolmakers, among others, all of whom in the early days were revered as essential pillars in their community.

Goods produced in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut during the 1850s and 1860s, since unmatched in quality, portend the transformative influence of the Industrial Revolution. More recent vintage products show burgeoning corporate influence and the socio-economic consequences of 20th century abundance.
