Yesterday we went into Legacy on a whim – could we find wainscoting that would match the existing to finish a room in our 1869 house? We showed Nathaniel a picture with measurements and showing long ago details. He IMMEDIATELY marched us out to the vast supply of wood trim outside and voila showed us a pile of wood that matched. It was incredible. We loaded the car and went away happy knowing that we had found a needle in a haystack and had recycled old material. Meanwhile we have material at less than we could have found had we tried to recreate with new building materials – which would have only vaguely matched. Once we got it home our excitement built as we realized just how exactly it matched. We are regulars at Legacy and never ever leave disappointed. One of the few places around where you can get authentic vintage architectural items. They have loads of things like doors and windows and also harder to find items including locks handles lamps etc. Also items needed for bathrooms kitchens too. They are not cheap however, so don’t expect bargain basement prices. But if you need specific items give them a try. The site is almost like a museum so worth a visit just to see what they have

This is a place where you can find all sorts of old stuff to complete the renovation of your old house, or add an old touch to a modern reno. Want an old cast iron bathtub with a cutout in it and planking on the bottom so you can use it as a chaise? Yup, they’ve got you covered. How about an old door knocker, or maybe some wall sconces. They’ve probably got exactly what works in your space. The owner is incredibly helpful and seems to know where almost everything is, which is a trick given how much inventory he has. I’ll be going back
