Very Unusual Antique Rimlock for Right Hand door. - Eastern Europe. ca. mid-1800s. (1840-1940)

This very unusual vintage levered rimlock passage set was found in Romania. The design of this cast steel lock lends itself to use on either right-hand doors, although it can be fitted to a left-hand door, except the handle then needs to be raised to withdraw the latchbolt, which is contrary to the typical user's expectation. 

It is fully restored and is fitted with a recent keeper and updated brass levers. One lever requires a pin to affix it to the spindle when the door thickness is known. The latch is 2 1/2" wide by 4 3/4" high, and the horizontal sections of the handles are 4" long.
