Early hand forged, vegetable-themed Suffolk thumblatch ca. 1740-1840

Unique vegetable-themed early Suffolk thumblatch featuring the maker's subtle blacksmithing talent with large bean-shaped upper and lower terminals. This latch may have secured an affluent owner's exit to the garden.

The handle is 2" wide, 8" tall, and has a 10 3/4" latch bar. The forged guide and keeper are meant to be driven and peened upon installation.
