Early hand-forged, bean-themed, Suffolk thumblatch ca. 1740-1840

Unique vegetable-themed early Suffolk thumblatch featuring the maker's subtle blacksmithing talent with bean-shaped upper and lower terminals. This latch may have secured an imaginative owner's exit to the garden.

The handle is 2 3/8" wide, 7 7/8" tall, and has an 8" latch bar. The forged guide and keeper are meant to be driven and peened upon installation.
