Early hand forged Suffolk thumblatch found in France ca. 1640-1740

This is a very early, flower-themed, thumblatch found in Villefranche, France, that displays a maker's primitive blacksmithing talent with a hand-forged, bloom-shaped upper terminal and a bottom terminal meant to be driven in and peened when installed.

The set comprises a handle 2 3/8" wide and  7" tall, with a 6 1/2" latch bar with a lift knob and a more recent guide and keeper.
