Immense hand-forged double spade Suffolk thumblatch. The spades are each 3 3/4"wide x 4 3/4" high, and the overall height of the handle is 15 3/4". The large thumb pad is 2' in diameter. This piece displays the fine work of a very accomplished blacksmith.
The rat tail keeper and staple latchbar guide, which are meant to be driven into place with the ends then peened over, are recently and correctly hand-made.
The handle is 15 3/4" tall and 3/3/4" wide with a 20" latch bar adorned with a lifting knob.
