Extraordinary Antique Rimlock for Left-Hand door. - Eastern Europe. ca. mid-1800s. (1840-1940)

This extraordinary antique levered rimlock entry or passage set was found in Romania. The design of this cast steel lock lends itself to use on left-hand doors, although it can be fitted to a right-hand door, except the handle then needs to be raised to withdraw the latchbolt, which is contrary to a typical user's expectation. 

It is fully restored and fitted with a key, recent keeper, updated brass levers, and a rosette. The latch is 2 1/2" wide by 6 1/2" high, with handles 3 3/8" and 4" long.
